A Strange but “Innovative” Idea

It was a routine morning, and I was on my way in the train to office listening to Mumbai’s very own RJ “Malishka” (love the way she says her name). After the Blasts in Delhi, it was being talked about everywhere in media ; radio, TV, Newspapers etc.
Malishka then gave a very interesting thought which I wish to present here based on my understanding. It goes like this
“ When a blast happens and a terrorist organization claims it, what is their basic objective? Not only creating the terror but also letting the whole world know about it. What if a blast happens and its now shown anywhere. I mean the news about the blast is not published in any of the media forms. The whole objective of the Terrorist organization would be beaten. I know it sounds crazy and not practical but just think about it…. If the whole media unites for this cause and tries to do that.. what would be the implications? “
This came across as a very interesting and path breaking idea to me.. and it somewhere clicked that really can this be done? Will it somewhere hit the root cause of all these issues?

Let me know your thoughts…

Cheers

Hey Rahul,
Thats actually very thoughtful. But dont you think if media wont play its role how will people in other regions get alarmed about the danger ahead?
u c when we hear news about bomb blasts n all, we become aware of our surroundings and become a lil bit precautious.
On the other hand, as you said, Terrorists want the whole world to know about their deeds. And If Media wont cover them, i dont think they'll stop until they meet their aim i.e. proper coverage. They'll definetly continue.
whatsay?

Do you think exposing these guys to such a situation which they never thought of would make them react and do things not planned? and thats when the person is most vulnerable to make a mistake and be caught? may be its a far fetched thought but i sincerely believe media together has that power. Imagine media boycotting Raj Thackrey and not covering any of this statements or rallies? it would save us from so many angry reactions and non sense behavior. Just a thought

I think media shud not over react on things and it must not make novels out of short stories.. Everything in limit is good.. If it goes beyond limit, its harmful for digestion.

Like for instance if media wont cover up Raj Thakrey's statements, nobody on earth will knw his intentions about 'Divide n Rule Policy'.
Saving us from angry reactions is not an important thing but realising wt kinda people we are actually choosing for our growth and our welfare is important here! and thats wt media is doing. I think he should not be saved from agitation of masses. Being a citizen we should be well aware of facts and files around us.
But yes for sure media should not go over n above, making these people primarily important in our lives.

I guess what you are saying makes sense somewhere.. however the change in people and their thinking is a very fundamental change which happens over a long and painful period of time.

Till then i guess what media can do is be more responsible and not show contents in a way that it provokes emotions.

But on the flip side with increasing media competition its their bread n butter i guess.. to show things in a certain ways. so things again go in the loop... bcoz if all channels started showing things in the same way.. some channels might shut down and people will loose jobs .. :( i dono where this ends..

The solution given is so simple, hence it should work only if its opposite is eradicated - |complexity|. On the whole I have noticed (may be not analysed completely) and derived a conclusion "Simplicity is World's(We all part of it) envy, 'coz as things are made not so-simple and in-turn given the coverage of complexity it creates buzz of hallucinations for masses (which is offcouse in demand remember no supply without demand) to create chaos, to create fear(an entertainment, actions, and headlins are part of the process)." The goal is to generate wealth out of the situation. Thats the Core!
I don't know how to remove the complexity. Well said by RJ 'Do nothing'. It traces me back to non-violence pledged by Mahatma Gandhi.
